Process
The counselling process at GroWithin is collaborative, always acknowledging the fact that clients have innate wisdom.
It supports the emotional, logical, relational and creative sides of the clients.
It offers clients the opportunity to rediscover themselves, to learn from the past, and to reflect on what they truly want going forward.
It creates space for clients to think about what is important to them in their life, what makes them happy, what isn't working, and an effective change strategy.
GroWithin incorporates the professional behaviours and practices required by the British Sociological Association (BSA) and the Career Development Institute (CDI) Code of Ethics, of which the founder Dr. Seda Akçakoca is a member, into all processes, and adheres to professional standards of conduct. In addition, the principles of professional coaching programs of Erickson and Adler schools accredited by the International Coaching Federation and the ICF Basic Competence Model updated by the federation are also included in the processes.
The principles of accessibility, confidentiality, equality, impartiality, transparency and reliability are actively adopted throughout the entire process, starting with the discovery meeting.
During the counselling process, direct communication is made with the clients through a mobile application that technically makes it possible to apply these principles. With end-to-end encryption via the HIPAA* compliant mobile application brought by the new generation counselling approach, groWithin provides securely online chat with clients, ease of sharing documents and science-based special exercises and activities with clients without the hassle of sending and returning by e-mail, and uses all opportunities such as many more entertaining, instructive, educational materials.
*HIPAA is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act 1996. It is a United States federal law that protects patients' privacy and health records.

My journey in academia, while intellectually stimulating, took a toll on my stress levels and nervous system. The high demands for research, teaching, and securing tenure often triggered a prolonged stress response in me, leading to anxiety, insomnia, and fatigue. For nearly 20 years, I have been improving the quality of students' learning, teaching and assessment experiences within the scope of various academic, researcher and other professional roles I have undertaken at different educational institutions in Turkey, Europe and the UK. I am passionate about providing the best possible experience for every student by connecting the worlds of education and career. The interactive essence of work, profession and career has been shaping my academic and professional career choices since my undergraduate years. As a social scientist and coach trained in career and employment sociology, organizational behaviour and analysis, gender and business, I use a combination of career theories and philosophies to offer a holistic approach to responding to diverse student needs. By holding one-on-one sessions with over a thousand students and alumni, I developed an impartial, confidential and inclusive information, advice and guidance service in line with the Practice Principles, and now I share these experiences on GroWithin. By providing flexible, practical, meaningful and technologically enriched career services, I am happy to contribute to the orientation of students at different education and training levels, from high school to doctoral degrees, towards professions and business lines that are compatible with them.

GroWithin
Stress Management
We are empowered when we have the autonomy to reshape our mind-body system. Interventions to be made in the light of the right information can make you feel at home in your own body over time. By completing the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Vagus Nerve Programmes along with Polyvagal-Informed Certificate, I can now share a series of physical and mental practices and tools that can be applied in stress management in line with the needs of my clients.
Calming down is not the same as regulating the nervous system. A healthy nervous system is not always calm; it is flexible. The more “flexible” your vagus nerve is, the faster it will recover from your stress response, the less overwhelmed you will be with your emotions, and the less triggered you will be by the situations you encounter.
The vagus nerve is the epicentre of the mind-body system and works differently in each person. When you realize how your vagus nerve works, it begins to respond to your stressors in a very different way, and you can regulate your nervous system more effectively.

I am passionate about working with women of all ages who want to tap into their strengths and embrace their full potential. Inspiring women to lead confidently, stand up straight, and hold their own authentic space is a process that feeds me a lot. In my academic research, I have witnessed that women struggle a lot to prove themselves worthy of prescribed gender roles and fight against gender stereotypes, especially when making career decisions. As journalist and writer Anna Quindlen puts it, “The really difficult and truly magnificent thing is to stop being perfect and start working on being yourself.”
